Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
pinch of salt
1 3/4 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 spray can of whipped cream
Blueberries
Strawberries or Raspberries (chop strawberries if using)
Instructions

Heat up your waffle iron and get your cooking spray.
In a large bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Make a well in the center, and pour in buttermilk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla. Mix until everything is just fully combined and there are no flour streaks in the batter. Careful not to over-mix.
Let the batter rest for two minutes.
Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray. Drop about 1/2 cup of waffle batter into your waffle iron and cook.
Garnish with the whipped cream and fresh berries to resemble the American Flag (as seen in the picture).
*** To help keep the waffles warm and crisp while you make them all. I like to heat my oven to around 200 degrees( or the lowest heat setting) and then stick a metal cooling rack inside. Place the waffles in a single layer on the cooling rack while you make the others. They'll stay hot. Or just keep the cooling rack on the counter.
